Dear concerned parents, students and citizens,
During COVID-19, many colleges have made standardized testing optional or completely dropped it for college admissions. The number of test-optional or test-blind colleges skyrocketed from 1,075 in 2019 to 1,839 in 2021, which is nearly 81% of all colleges and universities. This is a blatant assault on meritocracy and a disguise to hide discrimination against Asian and other hardworking students. Please sign the following petition to demand that American colleges restore the objective standardized testing.

Dear college governing board members,
We, the undersigned, are concerned students and parents who believe that standardized testing is an important and fair measure of academic achievement and potential. We urge you to restore standardized testing as a requirement for college admissions.
Standardized testing provides a common and objective way to measure and compare the academic achievement and potential of students from different backgrounds, schools, and regions. It has been shown to be the most reliable predictor of student success in terms of graduation rates and GPAs. Without standardized tests, colleges will have to rely more on subjective and inconsistent factors such as grades, essays, interviews, extracurricular activities, and recommendations, which can be influenced by bias, favoritism, or fraud.
Standardized testing also encourages students to work hard and prepare for college-level work. It rewards students who have mastered the core skills of reading, writing and math that are essential for success in higher education and beyond.
The cancellation of standardized testing is a blatant assault on American meritocracy. Without it, American colleges will not be able to select and educate the best and brightest. It will worsen our nation’s STEM talent shortage, jeopardize our national security and technology leadership in the world.
Now that the COVID-19 pandemic has ended, it’s time to restore standardized testing in college admissions. Making standardized testing optional or eliminating it altogether will create more problems and inequalities in the long run.
Therefore, we respectfully request that you reconsider your decision to drop standardized testing as a requirement for college admissions. We believe that standardized testing is a valuable and fair tool that benefits both students and colleges.
